It’s that time of the year when everybody is flying kites, and I don’t mean the summer pursuit of seeing them go higher and higher, until the string runs out !!
You will have undoubtly noticed that politicians and certain newspapers have had their kites out all over the summer, they use to fly either left or right, but not any longer, its either a hard or soft flightpath now! These kites are not limited just to the UK, as all over Europe, every kite that you can think of are flying from Paris, Berlin and of course, not forgetting Brussels !
Almost two years ago, in a previous blog, I mentioned pragmatism was required. As posturing continues on both sides, I have a strong feeling that there will be an agreement, between the UK and Brussels.
The reasons are twofold, firstly geopolitical ( please excuse the long word ) in layman’s language, both sides need each other! And secondly, yes, it all boils down to money. The colossal lost of trade on both sides is huge, the loss of the UK’s financial contribution to the EU budget will not be easily filled. On our side, the loss of business, the hiccups and extra red tape at our borders will impact greatly on the normal day to day business that companies rely on to trade and run their firms.
Will this happen by October, not a chance, but, and this is a big but, there will be an agreement, possibly by mid December, and both sides will try and spin the outcome of the agreement as a victory for themselves. An early Christmas present!
We will all know that in reality is might be down as a score draw, as no one can win from this situation.
Moving to the UK, do you wait and sit on your hands, with fingers crossed, or do you act, and seize an opportunity, move for new markets, lease new equipment , modernise, and prepare for the next year?
We have put our money where our mouth is, this website is a new investment, looking to increase both our European business as well as the UK’s. Remember, standing still is a myth!
If you are looking for a progressive equipment leasing company, with a ” can do ” attitude, you must have found Oak!
